Floral Park Resident Earns Professional Engineer License

October 22, 2021; Floral Park, NY- D&B Engineers and Architects, a leading engineering and consulting organization specializing in wastewater, water supply, construction management, and civil and environmental engineering headquartered in Woodbury, NY, has announced that five employees have earned their Professional Engineer (P.E.) licenses. Achieving his prestigious professional milestone are: PJ Connell, P.E. of Floral Park, NY; Kurt Dirr, P.E. of Kew Gardens, Queens, NY; Jennifer Gienau, P.E. of Patchogue, NY; Frank Merklin, P.E. of Massapequa, NY; and Tim Raab, P.E. of Mineola, NY.

Professional Engineer licensure is the engineering industry’s highest standard of competence, representing a symbol of achievement and an assurance of quality. To earn a P.E. license, an individual must complete a four-year college degree, work under a Professional Engineer for at least four years, pass two intensive competency exams and receive a license from the New York State licensure board. Only licensed engineers may prepare, sign, seal and submit engineering plans with drawings to a public authority for approval or seal engineering work for public and private clients. P.E. licensure also means that engineers bear the responsibility for their work as well as for the lives affected by that work while holding themselves to high ethical standards of practice.

PJ Connell, P.E. of Floral Park, NY has worked in D&B Engineers and Architects’ Woodbury, NY office as an Engineer for almost six years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Resources Engineering from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF). In addition to his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, he is also NACE CIP Level 2.

Kurt Dirr, P.E. of Kew Gardens, Queens, NY has earned his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. He has worked at D&B Engineers and Architects’ Woodbury, NY office for over four years as a Staff Engineer and received his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Resources Engineering from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF).

Jennifer Gienau, P.E. of Patchogue, NY has earned her Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. She has worked at D&B Engineers and Architects’ Woodbury, NY office for almost five years as an Engineer, and she received her Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) with a major in Environmental Resources Engineering (ERE) and a minor in Urban Forestry.

Frank Merklin, P.E. of Massapequa, NY earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and his Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Manhattan College. He has been working in the Woodbury, NY office at D&B Engineers and Architects for over four years as an Engineer and he recently earned his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

Tim Raab, P.E. of Mineola, NY earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering Systems from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He has been working in the Woodbury, NY office at D&B Engineers and Architects for four years as a Project Manager and recently earned his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
