Man Breaks Into Woman's Home, Smashes Items: Nassau Police
The man was tased after he refused to follow officers' verbal commands and made "furtive movements" toward his waistband, police say.
BELLEROSE TERRACE, NY — A Brooklyn man broke into a woman's home and was tased after he resisted arrest on Sunday, Nassau police said.
Police responded to a Bellerose Terrace home around 4:20 p.m. for a call of a burglary in process, police said. Officers were informed that Angel Casiano, 23, had unlawfully entered a woman's home and broke various items inside, police said.
Officers found Casiano, who tried to run away but was found nearby, police said. Officers tried to place Casiano into custody, but Casiano refused to follow verbal commands and began to make "furtive movements" toward his waistband, police said. Officers tased Casiano and took him into custody, police said.

Casiano was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Investigators said Casiano is also responsible for three counts of criminal mischief from an incident that occurred on Jan. 31, 2024, as well as a burglary on Aug. 30, 2024.

Casiano was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, one count of third-degree criminal mischief, three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, one count of petty larceny, one count of third-degree assault, one count of second-degree aggravated harassment, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of obstructing governmental administration, police said.
He is set to be arraigned on Monday in First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
