Man Charged In August LA Fitness Shooting In New Hyde Park: Police

A Queens man was charged with attempted murder in connection with an August shooting at the Nassau gym's basketball court, police said.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A Queens man was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with an August shooting at a New Hyde Park LA Fitness, Nassau County police said.

On August 1, 2022, shots were fired at the gym, located at 1111 Marcus Avenue, and when police arrived they saw people running out of the gym. Police officers found a shell casing in the basketball court. No one was injured, police said.

Orane Davis, 25, was charged with second-degree attempted murder and two counts of weapon possession. He is scheduled for arraignment Friday.
