Man Hit By School Bus On Long Island Dies: Police

No children were on the bus at the time of the deadly crash, police say.

FLORAL PARK, NY — A man struck by a school bus in Floral Park Wednesday morning has died, police said.

According to Nassau County police, the crash took place at 7:45 a.m. on Plainfield Avenue in the vicinity of Magnolia Avenue. No children were on the bus at the time of the crash, police said.

The 63-year-old man was struck by a 2018 Chevy school bus while crossing Plainfield Avenue, from west to east, police said. The driver of the school bus, a 69-year-old woman, remained at the scene, police said.

The man suffered body trauma and was transported to a local hospital in a NYU Langone ambulance for treatment; he was later pronounced deceased by a hospital physician, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
