Man Injures Detective Following New Hyde Park Theft: Police
A detective suffered a cut to her hand and a knee injury when a man she was apprehending became combative, police say.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A man injured a detective who was trying to arrest him in connection with a theft at a New Hyde Park store on Saturday, Nassau police said.
Amar Williams, 35, of Bayside, and Jasmine Addison, 31, of Hempstead, entered Victoria's Secret, at 1450 Union Turnpike, and hid assorted merchandise around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, police said. Williams and Addison left the store without paying, police said. Detectives found the duo nearby and placed them under arrest, police said.
Williams became "violent and combative," causing a detective to suffer a cut to her hand and an injury to her knee, police said. She was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said.

Addison was charged with petty larceny. Williams was charged with second-degree assault, petty larceny, and resisting arrest.
They had been scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.

Investigators said that both Williams and Addison had open bench warrants from New York City.
