Man Taken Into Custody After Approaching Several Children, Offering Them Candy: Police

Frias Bader is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment, police said.

NORTH NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A Queens man was taken into custody for approaching multiple children at the Hillside Islamic Center in North New Hyde Park, police said.

Frias Bader is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment, police said.

On the evening of July 18, Bader offered the children candy, which was refused, authorities said.

Bader was confronted by one of the victim’s parents and told to leave the property, police said.

A thorough investigation led to Bader's arrest, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
