Movie Starring Natalie Portman, Jude Law To Film In Floral Park

The movie is set to film at several locations in the Village on Friday.

A movie starring Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman and Academy Award-nominated actor Jude Law is set to film at various locations in the Village of Floral Park on Friday.

The film, called "Vox Lux," is summarized on IMDB as "an unusual set of circumstances brings unexpected success to a pop star."

The storyline follows the 15-year career of pop star "Celeste"and highlights her career lows and highs. According to Variety, "The film spans 15 years and traces important cultural moments through the singer’s eye, starting in 1999 and ending in the present day."

The film was described as a combination of "We Need To Talk About Kevin" and "Dream Girls," according to IMDB.

The movie begins filming on Thursday in New York City, Variety reports.

Rooney Mara was previously cast as the lead of the "Vox Lux" film but dropped out after the project was put on hold. Portman was recently added on as her replacement. Law and Portman also worked together in the 2004 movie "Closer."

Portman spent part of her childhood on Long Island, graduating from Syosset High School in 1999.

In a letter to residents, the Village of Floral Park listed the locations that will be affected by the filming, which will take place from 11 a.m. to midnight at the following locations:

  • St. Elizabeth Church, located at 6 Harvard St. (interior filming)
  • Memorial Park, located at 21 Floral Parkway
  • Floral Parkway between Aspen Street and E. Poplar Street
  • In front of Our Lady of Victory, located at 2 Floral Parkway

Outdoor scenes will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The following streets will be closed due to filming:

  • Harvard Street
  • Aspen Street, from E. Poplar to the intersection of Floral Parkway (parking is not permitted from 7 a.m. to midnight)
  • Bellmore Street, between Floral Parkway and Carnation Avenue.
  • Magnolia Parking lot will be closed from 7 a.m. to midnight.
