NEW HYDE PARK, NY — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

This submission comes from Isabella who nominated her daughter Adriana, a tenth-grader in New Hyde Park, for her leadership skills and commitment to her team.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

She is a team player with great sportsmanship. She is a leader on and off the team, she sustained a major injury and had surgery but continued to support her team and do what she could on the sidelines. She works very hard and tries to contribute in any way to her team. She is a defensive and offensive player and will do whatever it takes to help her team.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Adriana is a leader and works very hard to be an overall good student, athlete and daughter. Her ability to overcome the challenge of her ACL injury has taught me and others that you have to push forward and work hard toward your goals. Never give up and always remain supportive of your team and teammates.
