NHP Daisy Honored For Saving Brother From Choking
The girl said she learned how to save a life thanks to Girl Scouts.
A Girl Scout Daisy from New Hyde Park was recently honored for saving her younger brother from choking last year.
On May 20, 2017, Riya and her 3-year-old brother were having dinner at home when he began to choke. Riya came to her brother's rescue with two blows on the back, dislodging the food stuck in his wind pipe.
Riya, when asked how she knew what to do, said her Troop 1511 leader Ms. Laura, taught her how to identify and help a person choking.
