No Alcohol On LIRR Trains, Stations During SantaCon Weekend: MTA
Anyone caught drinking alcohol on trains subject to summons or even removal from trains, MTA says, to maintain 'safe and orderly travel.'

LONG ISLAND, NY — As in years past, the MTA is cracking down on alcohol on LIRR trains and in stations during SantaCon weekend, Dec. 10 and 11. The ban will be enforced for 32 hours, from early Saturday morning until noon on Sunday, in an attempt to quell any rowdy and disorderly behavior during the annual holiday revelry.
The MTA announced that those caught with alcohol on the LIRR are subject to having it confiscated, receiving summonses, and even being ejected from the train or station.
“Maintaining safe and orderly travel is always a priority,” MTA Police Chief John Mueller said.

In 2019, SantaCon attendees helped stop a violent crime on the LIRR: Some of the "Santas" helped restrain a stabber in Queens and assisted the victim.
