North Nassau Restaurants Lost And Gained In 2022: Looking Back
As 2023 approaches, find out which local restaurants in North Nassau County opened and which closed over the last year.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — It can be hard to keep with the ever-changing restaurant landscape on Long Island. As 2023 dawns, Patch compiled a list of the restaurants North Nassau lost, and gained, in 2022.
Good news for foodies: North Nassau gained several new dining options, with cuisine covering sushi, dim-sum, Mexican, Vietnamese and more.

Great Neck's Poultry Mart closed in July after 72 years. The family-run takeout shop sold roasted chickens and side dishes since 1950.
Pietro's Pizza in Oyster Bay was forced to close its doors with the the death of owner Peter Grippi, who also owned Sorriso in Garden City Park.
Wild Honey on Main in Port Washington shuttered in April, but the Oyster Bay location, with eclectic new American cuisine, remains open.

Asian-Italian fusion restaurant opened at The Inn at Great Neck: "A blend of cuisines from the East and West, Marco Polo's serves a variety of dishes, like sesame tuna tataki and Prosecco ginger salmon."
JIA, an upscale Chinese restaurant, opened in August in Port Washington. The restaurant serves dim-sum and Cantonese dishes in a minimalist space.
Vietnamese sandwich shop Joju opened in Port Washington in June. The banh mi, or Vietnamese-style hero, shop first opened in Elmhurst, Queens.
A new brick oven pizzeria replaced Pietro's in Oyster Bay in October, Mama Mia's Brick Oven Pizzeria.
Nino's Beach in Port Washington, from the owners Nino's 46, opened its doors this summer. The upscale Mediterranean restaurant serves locally-sourced food on the water in Safe Harbor Marina.
The Olive Room Meeting Pointe Mediterranean Wine & Small Plates Bar opened in November where Wild Honey closed in Port Washington. Owner Daniel Pedisich also owns ViNoTEKA 46 in Huntington.
The Salt Grill is a new Brazilian-French restaurant that came to Glen Cove in August.
A new sushi bar from a former Nobu chef opened in December inside Roslyn Seafood Gourmet. Sushi by Kuryu is the newest spot from Teruo Yoshioka, a former sous chef at Nobu Downtown.
Mineola got a new Mexican restaurant in December. Tulum Tacos & Tequila remade a closed Friendly's into a Tulum beach-inspired eatery.
