Northwell Named Fortune’s 2022 Best Workplaces in Health Care

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A Long Island based hospital system has been named one of Fortune magazine's Best Workplaces in 2022.

Northwell Health announced it won the Best Workplaces in Health Care award, and ranked fifth out of 30 health care organizations nationwide. It also is the highest rated organization in New York, according to the magazine.

The award is based on analysis of survey responses from over 161,000 employees in the health care industry, derived from 60 employee experience questions.

Companies are also assessed on how well they are creating a great employee experience that cuts across race, gender, age, disability status, or any aspect of who employees are or their role.

In that survey, 79 percent of Northwell’s team members said it is a great place to work — 23 percent higher than other companies.

Dowling, president and CEO at Northwell. “Our workplace culture of trust, empowerment and innovation has long been in place. Northwell currently operates 21 hospitals and 850 outpatient facilities on Long Island and in the New York metropolitan area.

According to a press release, the health care system was recognized in the survey for its key programs such as: supporting team members dealing with food insecurity and hardship due to the pandemic; caring for children and families outside the workplace with the program Northwell Kids; providing free fun recreational activities.

Northwell Celebrates, a program which started two years ago, also recognizes team members across the health system with gifts, experiences and services.
