Northwell Opens State-Of-The-Art Otolaryngology Center On Long Island
The Sandra Atlas Bass Otolaryngology Center will provide comprehensive care to patients with conditions affecting the ears, nose and throat.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Northwell Health has expanded its footprint on Long Island with the opening of an 18,000-square-foot facility for otolaryngology care.
New York's largest health care provider made the announcement Monday, saying the Sandra Atlas Bass Otolaryngology Center will provide comprehensive care to patients with conditions and disorders affecting the ears, nose, and throat. The center, located at 444 Lakeville Rd., was funded through a $12.15 million donation from longtime Northwell Health benefactor Sandra Atlas Bass.
"This new center is so important to the health and wellbeing of our communities because it will play a critical role in our ability to communicate and connect with others," Bass said. "I'm thankful that I can help advance the science of head and neck conditions and make a difference in people's lives."

The Great Neck native and noted philanthropist has long been a pioneer of medical innovation in the health system, with some of her earliest backings going to cardiology programs in the 1990s, according to Northwell Health. She later funded the Sandra Atlas Bass Cardiology Centers at both North Shore and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and supported the creation of the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital.
Bass' latest gift expands and modernizes Northwell's flagship otolaryngology practice. The new clinical center features 22 exam rooms, four procedure rooms, and multiple testing facilities. It's staffed by recognized specialists in head and neck surgery, laryngology, sinus surgery, sleep medicine, plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery, and general otolaryngology.

"This incredible gift from Ms. Bass allows us to care for patients with many forms of communication disabilities," said Dr. Andrea Vambutas, senior vice president and executive director of Northwell's Head and Neck Services. "Our goal is to provide advanced, state-of-the-art treatment for many complicated otolaryngologic diseases that affect our ability to hear, smell, swallow or talk."
