Snow Baby! Couple Delivers Newborn in Car in Manhasset

Mother and newborn are reported fine, police say.

Amidst a blizzard, an expectant mother gave birth on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset in a car, as a police dispatcher walked the father-to-be through the delivery via cell phone Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Reaching a Nassau County Police Department ambulance medical technician by phone at about 2:52 p.m., the father excitedly told police the baby was coming out, police said.

The AMT managed to calm the father down, talk him through the delivery and gave him instructions for drying and warming the baby. The father followed the AMT’s instructions, caring for the infant until a Nassau County Ambulance arrived, police said.
