Snow, Wind Chills Below Zero in The New Hyde Park Forecast

Long Island will likely see 1-2 inches of snow Thursday night into Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow, on the heels of a blizzard that dropped more than 2 feet of snow on some parts of Long Island, will be followed by an arctic front that will cause a “massive drop in temperatures” Friday afternoon, the NWS says. Wind chill temperatures are expected to dip below zero on Friday night as winds gust to near 40 mph.

Saturday will be more of the same: cold and windy, with a high near 23 degrees. On the bright side: it will be sunny.

Super Bowl Sunday is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 32, according to the NWS forecast.

The next chance for snow–a 50 percent chance at the moment–comes Sunday night into Monday, the NWS says.

“There is the potential for significant precipitation in the form of snow,” the National Weather Service’s Upton office said of the end of the weekend storm. “However much uncertainty exists as the storm may pass far enough to the south for little or no precipitation. Stay tuned.”
