Summer Blood Donation Drive To Be Held In North Hempstead

A blood drive will be held in New Hyde Park on Wednesday, Aug. 18. Here's how to schedule an appointment.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — To help hospitals meet the ongoing and pressing need for blood, the New York Blood Center will be holding a donation drive next month in New Hyde Park.

A partnership between the Town of North Hempstead and the NYBC, the blood drive is scheduled to take place at 1601 Marcus Ave., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on blood donations and supplies," said Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth. "There is currently a nationwide blood shortage and an urgent need for all blood types. The Town encourages residents to take part in our upcoming blood donation drive and to help their fellow neighbors."
