Teen Robs Nassau Target: Police
The 17-year-old was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A teenager was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for robbing a Target store in New Hyde Park, police said.
The 17-year-old boy entered the store on Union Turnpike and proceeded to the electronics department. He damaged a merchandise protection device on an item, before passing all points of purchase, police said.
As he attempted to leave the store, a loss prevention officer confronted the teen. A struggle ensued, police said.

The boy dropped the merchandise and fled on foot, authorities said.
He was located a short time later and placed under arrest without incident. The boy was found with a black knife on him, police said. He is charged with third-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

He was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday at youth portion of Nassau County First District Court.
