UBS Arena Gets Special Safety Designation From Federal Government
The arena is currently the only arena in the New York metro area with an active SAFETY Act designation.

ELMONT, NY — UBS Arena takes pride in keeping the public safe, whether people are attending an Islanders game, a concert or other events. The federal government has taken notice.
The arena has been granted the prestigious SAFETY Act Designation from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for providing safety and security measures that align with the department's anti-terrorism goals.
UBS Arena is currently the only arena in the New York metro area with an active designation. Additionally, the venue is only one of four arenas in the United States as current active SAFETY Act holders.

“We hold the safety of our guests, staff, athletes and artists in the highest regard," said Michael Sciortino, General Manager of UBS Arena. "To have the Department of Homeland Security recognize the planning, investments and dedication that had been made since the inception of UBS Arena is an honor."
Enacted in 2002, the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act was established as part of the Homeland Security Act. The mission of this Act is to incentivize development and widespread deployment of effective anti-terrorism technologies that reduce risks to the nation.
