WILLISTON PARK, NY — Hildebrandt's ice cream shop has been a mainstay in Williston Park for nearly a century. But now the company may be forced to close for good and is asking the local community for help.

"We need your help! Our new landlord is looking to increase our rent to an amount that is simply impossible for us to afford," Hildebrandt wrote in a post on its Instagram account. "We are desperately trying to make Hildebrandts a historic site but seem to get nowhere. We need every former or current Willie Parker to contact Town Hall and demand that 'Our Hildebrandts' be named a historic site."

If Hildebrandt is granted landmark status with the National Register of Historic Places, its facade and name would be preserved, according to News12.
