Malloy: Outage is Wake Up Call to Con Ed and MTA

Early Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, 2013, Metro-North announced that service would return to normal for the Monday morning commute.

According to MTA's website, "Regular New Haven Line Service will resume Monday morning, October 7, following initial successful testing of a major new electrical substation at Mount Vernon."

MTA said Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6, they will run reduced hourly train service from all New Haven Line stations while activation and breaking in of the new substation continues. Please see our schedules page See service details.

Later on Saturday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement regarding the recent MTA service disruption.  

"I'm happy for the thousands of Connecticut commuters that service will be back to normal on Monday. I hope this outage serves as a wake up call to both Con Ed and the MTA when it comes to maintenance. We need to look at why this happened and take steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.

And we will continue to push Con Ed to reimburse residents. Connecticut did not cause this problem, and we should not be on the hook for the cost."
