Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Parks Clean-Up Weekend

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Pitch In For Parks

Each April, Westchester Parks Foundation and the Westchester County Parks Department host Pitch In For Parks, the largest County-wide volunteer program surrounding Earth Day. Volunteers will be cleaning up litter, gardening, and performing other related activities. No experience is necessary and families and groups are welcome!
Date: 4/22-4/26 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; multiple opportunities

New Rochelle Parks Clean-Up Weekend

Find out what's happening in New Rochellefor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Volunteers are needed to tidy up parks throughout New Rochelle during this annual clean-up event. Tasks include debris pick-up, trail and path clearing, weeding, and more. This is a great project for groups and families! Volunteers must be 16+ to register alone or 5+ if registering as part of an adult's team.
Date: 4/26-4/27 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Earth Day Festival

Volunteers will be setting up and breaking down the tables, distributing fliers to event attendees, answering questions about Federated Conservationists of Westchester County's programs and services, and signing up interested attendees for the organization's newsletter. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are friendly, enjoy speaking with others, and have a passion for the environment. Volunteers can receive credit for community service requirements.

Volunteer Coordinator

Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill (CHHOP) is a non-profit organization in Peekskill that works to alleviate hunger and homelessness. It is seeking a volunteer coordinator to help recruit and manage volunteers at Fred's Pantry and Jan Peek House. Due to the sensitive population they will be working with, volunteers must complete a background check and attend a mandatory training.
Date: Weekly; flexible schedule
