Firefighters Battle Raging Structure Blaze In Cutchogue

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A fire broke out in Cutchogue Friday afternoon so fierce the flames could be seen for miles, as far away as Hampton Bays.

According to the Cutchogue Fire Department, the fire broke out at 2:44 p.m. in a structure on Alvahs Lane between County Road 48 and Oregon Road.

Anthony Sannino, owner of Sannino Vineyard, told Patch the barn behind his family's residence was on fire, but the building, while on the same property, is located a far distance from the winery.

No one was hurt, he said.

It was not immediately clear how the fire started, officials told Patch.

The Cutchogue, Mattituck and Southold Fire Departments were at the scene, with the Jamesport Fire Department assisting and the Greenport Fire Department's ambulance also at the fire, authorities said.
