Greenport Village Launches New Website

Village web presence is enhanced by private company.

Greenport Village Trustee Mary Bess Phillips said that for the past two years she's been as frustrated as anyone with the village's website, which had been for years maintained in-house.

Her frustration is over. Village officials announced this week the launch of a new-and-improved website at http://villageofgreenport.org/.

"There are a few corrections that need to be made, but this is an ongoing project that will get the information to village residents in a faster and reliable vehicle," Phillips said in an email message.

Village Mayor David Nyce said he too was happy with the new website, which he said is being maintained at a nominal fee, and is especially happy that the burden of updating the site is off the shoulders of the clerk's office.

"We were trying to run it in-house and it never worked the way it should have — it really wasn't part of the job description of the clerks," he said. "But they did what they could and we picked it up again as a project last winter."

Public Relations and Marketing Group redesigned the site for $3,750 and maintains it for the village at $29.95 per month, according to Village Clerk Sylvia Pirillo.

The site features a full calendar of village activities and village board meetings as well as links to businesses and points of interest. Click here to check it out.
