Anthony Palumbo Wins Race For NYS 1st District Senate Seat
The voters have spoken and, according to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections, incumbent Tony Palumbo has won.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Voters headed to the polls on Tuesday to decide the NYS Senate District 1 race between incumbent Anthony Palumbo (R) and challenger Sarah Anker (D) — and Palumbo emerged victorious.
According to unofficial results by the Suffolk County Board of Elections, with all districts having reported, Palumbo was ahead at 53.41 percent, with 84,625 votes; Anker had 46.57 percent, or 73,786 votes.
After the vote, Palumbo spoke with Patch: "Thank you to the residents of the 1st Senate District for continuing to place their trust in me to serve as their state senator. I'm truly honored and humbled to have their support and will continue to work toward making Long Island a safer and more affordable place to live."

Senate District 1 covers the East End towns of East Hampton, Southold, Shelter Island, Southampton, and Riverhead as well as some of eastern Brookhaven Town.
