Man Charged With Felony DWI In Greenport: Police

His vehicle was seized, police say.

GREENPORT, NY — A Ridge man was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated in Greenport, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place at 5:16 p.m. on May 12 on Route 25. William Schwabe, 51, was stopped for a traffic infraction and found to be intoxicated, police said.

He was arrested and charged with DWI, previous conviction within 10 years; first-degree aggravated DWI; first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle; driving without a license, and passing on the right, police said.

He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.

Schwabe's vehicle was also seized due to Schwabe having a prior DWI conviction, as per Suffolk County seizure law, police said.
