LI Memorial Day Weather: See What Forecast Looks Like For BBQs, Events
Heavy downpours and thunderstorms could mean a washout for Memorial Day barbecues and events scheduled during the afternoon hours, NWS says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Plans for barbecues and outdoor events on Memorial Day afternoon may fizzle on Long Island due to heavy downpours and thunderstorms slated for later in the day, the National Weather Service said.
According to Nelson Vaz, meteorologist for the National Weather Service Office in Upton, Sunday night could bring low clouds and fog on the South Shore of Long Island. Later in the evening, isolated showers or patchy drizzle are possible.
The weather Monday morning could include isolated showers and patchy drizzle, with low clouds and fog, but that won't signal a complete washout for parades and Memorial Day event scheduled for morning and earlier in the day, Vaz said.

However, later in the afternoon, a frontal system is supposed to move into the area, bringing heavy downpours and isolated thunderstorms first to Nassau County, and then, Suffolk County and the East End.
"It probably won't be the best conditions Monday afternoon for Memorial Day barbecues," Vaz said.
