Nov. 17: Rachlin Retirement, Southold Recycling and Animal Forensics
Oysterponds School Board members approve the early retirement of Superintendent Dr. Stuart Rachlin while Southold School students get busy recycling.

Change is underway in a few of our local school districts this week.
1. Members of the voted Tuesday night to approve the early retirement of the tiny school district's superintendent Dr. Stuart Rachlin. Read the story later today on North Fork Patch.
2. No more throwing away that can of Diet Coke — has implemented a recycling program for bottles and cans after years of not having any means of recycling. Stay tuned for that story.

3. Will outdoor track and tennis courts remain open to the public? Find out tonight at 7 p.m., when the school's board of education will discuss the matter at its monthly meeting.
4. Do your pre-teenaged children love animals? Then a trip to the this afternoon at 4 p.m. for amight not be a bad idea. The program will feature hands-on exercises with jawbones, skulls and animal x-rays. Call 631-298-4134 to register.

5. Let your kids know that it's OK to have breakfast for dinner tonight at 6 p.m. for a presentation at the geared toward children ages 3 to 8. Dress in pajamas, bring a stuffed animal and have a waffle. Call 631-765-6360 for more information.
