NORTH FORK, NY — Drumstick, a stray dog who thought he'd found his forever family, has been at the shelter for more than 100 long days — and every day, he waits, hopefully.

According to Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations at The League, which has locations in Peconic and Aquebogue, Drumstick thought he had found his people. "But, sadly, he has not. Drumstick is a great boy, loves all people and other dogs, and has even tested well with cats," she said. "Please don’t make him wait any longer!"

Drumstick, a 2-year old American Staffy mix, was found as a stray in January and has been in a shelter ever since.

"This handsome boy is so well-behaved. We have no idea why he keeps being overlooked. He is gentle, patient and kind. He is great at sharing his toys, and he loves playing — especially with soft toys. He takes treats gently, too."

Stroup added: "He doesn't let being 79 lbs. prevent him from being a lapdog. He also loves giving kisses. This guy is the sweetest. He loves everyone and everything."
