Police: Aquebogue Woman Arrested After Airlift to Hospital

Driver is treated for injuries after car crash in Mattituck then charged with driving while under the influence of drugs and reckless driving.

Charlene Sequen, 52, of Aquebogue was charged with driving while under the influence of drugs and numerous traffic violations after a high-speed chase on Tuesday at 9:37 a.m. on Route 25 in Mattituck.

Sequen was driving a 1996 Buick east on the main road when she swerved into the westbound traffic lane and into the path of a Southold Town Police officer, forcing him to the side of the road, police said. The officer turned around and attempted to stop Sequen, who was speeding, driving recklessly and did not stop for the officer, police said. She eventually lost control of the vehicle, overturned off the roadway and hit a tree.

Sequen was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment to injuries, then was charged with driving while under the influence of drugs after investigation. She was also charged with reckless driving and multiple other vehicle and traffic violations and was issued an appearance ticket to return to court at a later date, police said.
