Police: Greenport Woman Arrested For Crack Possession With Child In Home
The East End Drug Task Force charges a Greenport woman with illegal drug possession and unlawfully dealing with a child.

A 26-year-old Greenport woman was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug charges as well as unlawfully dealing with a child during the early morning hours of Wednesday by members of the East End Drug Task Force, according to a report from Southold Town Police.
Charmaine Freeman, 26, was arrested at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning after members of the task force searched her home at 420 Carpenter Street in the village under a search warrant, police said. Police reportedly discovered a quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana, scales used for the dispensing of narcotic drugs, and a sum of money. A 7-year-old girl was taken from the home and placed with family members elsewhere in Greenport, police said.

Freeman was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree and first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. She was transported to police headquarters in Peconic, held for arraignment and is currently being held at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside in lieu of bail.
Members of the Southold Town Police Department, the Suffolk County Police Emergency Department Service Unit and the Suffolk County Sheriff's Canine Unit assisted in the investigations. Whether more charges are made will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
