Sept. 29: Five Weekend Happenings

Here a few ways to help and have fun with your community this weekend on the NoFo.

Farmer's markets and live music are still keeping the North Fork interesting as October makes its debut here over the weekend:

1. on Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Greenport Farmer's market on First and Adams Streets. Clean out your closet and help those in need.

3. takes over , 538 Main Street in Greenport on Saturday at 10 a.m. Hector deCordova will help students explore the world of watercolor, acrylics and the limitless possibilities of mixed media.

4. starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Peconic Winery. The market has had a good showing since late April with fresh produce, honey and other goods, set to live music at one of the North Fork's oldest wineries.

5. is an informational session with Dr. Helen Hays on the terns that inhabit Great Gull Island, taking place at the Havens barn of the on Shelter Island on Sunday at 4 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
