Severe Thunderstom Alert In Effect For LI Thursday
Parts of Long Island will see winds of up to 60 miles per hour, hail and heavy rain, the National Weather Service says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A severe thunderstorm alert is in effect this morning for parts of Long Island on Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service Office at Upton, areas including Sag Harbor, Springs, Montauk and Southold were under a severe thunderstorm alert until 10:15 a.m. That storm was slated to include damaging heavy winds up of to 60 miles per hour, quarter size hail and heavy rain.
Next, a new thunderstorm alert was issued for Nassau County and adjacent parts of Suffolk, with damaging 60 mile per hour winds and up to three quarters of an inch of rain expected, the NWS said. That storm is slated to last about three hours, the NWS said.
