UPDATE: Southold House Fire Victims Mother and Daughter, Neighbor Says
Kathryn and Barbara Primich died during the early morning hours of Tuesday after a fire destroyed the Goose Creek home they lived in together.
Barbara and Kathryn Primich died Tuesday morning in a house fire on Goose Creek Lane in Southold, a neighbor has confirmed.
The fire started around 5:15 a.m. in the living room of the 1930s-era two-story home according to Peggy Killian, second assistant chief with the Southold Fire Department. The fire was extinguished by 7:30 a.m.
A neighbor at the scene said that Barbara, 56, had for years been taking care of her elderly mother, Kathryn, 83, in the home tucked away on a dirt road near Goose Creek.

"They lived together all year round," said the neighbor, who did not want to give her name. "I admired these people tremendously."
The woman added that Barbara was a devout Christian who lived her religion through good works and was about to sign up as a regular volunteer this past weekend at the Southold Town Animal Shelter.
