2 Officers Hurt Rescuing Dog From East Northport Fire
Gucci, a Pomeranian mix, was saved from the burning home on Friday afternoon.
Two offers were injured from entering a burning home to save a dog in East Northport on Friday afternoon, police say.
According to authorities, officers responded to the Meadow Rue Lane home at 1:45 p.m. and circled around the fully engulfed house looking for victims when they observed a dog, a 5-year-old Pomeranian mix named Gucci, through a rear window, police say.
The officers entered the home through a rear door to rescue the dog. Gucci is expected to survive, police say.

The officers suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by Northport Fire Department Ambulance where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
