Maude, A Loving Young Cat, Is Hoping For Her Forever Home: Northport Kitties Of The Week
Rescued after her caretaker passed away, Maude is adjusting to a new environment while waiting for her forever home.

NORTHPORT, NY — This week’s featured cat from the Northport Cat Rescue Association is Maude, a loving young cat whose gentle spirit and affectionate nature have made her a favorite among those who have cared for her.
Born around March 2024, Maude and her siblings were originally cared for by an elderly woman who adored them. When the woman passed away, the kittens were suddenly left outside without protection. The woman’s caregiver contacted Northport Cat Rescue Association, and a volunteer stepped in to bring the kittens to safety.
Maude was one of the cats rescued that day.

Maude is deeply affectionate and thrives on human connection. She is known among volunteers for her constant purring, affectionate personality, and ability to bond quickly with people she trusts.
According to Lora Wild, a volunteer with Northport Cat Rescue Association, Maude is “a non-stop purring machine” with a “sweet, silly personality” who enjoys being close to her people.

Until recently, Maude had only known the comfort of a foster home. Over the weekend, she was moved to Pet Supplies Plus, located at 1960 Jericho Turnpike in East Northport, where she is now hoping to be seen by her future family.
The transition has been difficult. Wild said Maude does not understand that the habitat is meant to help her find a home, and she is often found curled into a small ball, appearing unsure and withdrawn. Still, Wild noted that Maude responds immediately to kindness.
“If you stop by and speak softly to her, she’ll listen,” Wild said. “She’ll come right up to the door for gentle head scratches and lean into every bit of kindness you offer.”
Maude is spayed, fully vaccinated, litter box-trained, microchipped, and has tested negative for FELV and FIV.
Those interested in meeting Maude can visit the Northport Cat Rescue Association website to complete an adoption application, call 631-606-2631, or email info@northportcatrescue.org.
Wild said the rescue hopes Maude’s next chapter will be her last — one filled with stability, affection, and a family of her own, especially during the holiday season.
