'Affectionate' Luna And Leo: Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week

NORTHPORT, NY — Luna and Leo, bonded 6-month-old siblings, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association’s Kittens of the Week.

Leo an adorable tuxedo kitten and Luna is a beautiful black kitty. They were rescued with their mom from outside during the cold winter, according to Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue.

"They were scared, confused and timid, but with time came to trust the people that helped them," Wild said. "Once they get to know you, they are sweet and affectionate. Luna is very playful, while Leo is the shy one."

Leo is often found hiding under his blanket at the habitat at Petco Commack, Wild said.

"Once you lift his blanket, he will poke his head out and ask for pets. He will take as much affection as you are willing to give him."

The rescue held an adoption event this past weekend, but Luna and Leo did not get one application, according to Wild.

"Adjusting to life in the habitats is not easy for timid kittens, so we would love to find them their forever home soon!" she said. "We know once they are finally shown some consistency and love they will absolutely thrive. They just need that special someone to look through the habitat window and see all the potential these two cuties have and give them a chance. Come on down and meet them!"

They are currently cuddled up together at Petco Commack, waiting for their forever home.

They are neutered or spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
