NORTHPORT, NY — This week’s featured feline from the Northport Cat Rescue Association is Luisa, a gentle young black-and-white beauty who has spent her whole life waiting for someone to see her.

Estimated to have been born around June 2024, Luisa grew up in a large outdoor colony. She was shy and unsure, never quite fitting into the chaos around her. When she was finally trapped, volunteers quickly realized she was not suited for outdoor life.

“She deserved warmth, safety, and love,” said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. Luisa was brought into foster care, where her true personality began to emerge.

Luisa is a petite, long-haired sweetheart with a tiny white patch on her chest and a fluffy plume of a tail. “When she rolls over in trust, you’ll see her snowy belly,” Wild said. “She’s delicate, gentle, and so much sweeter than she realizes.”

Though timid at first, Luisa blossoms under kindness. Her purr begins the moment she feels safe, and instead of meowing, she trills softly — a tender, constant sound her foster calls “her little love song.”

Shelter environments overwhelm her, which is why the rescue hopes she can go directly from foster to a forever home. “In foster care, she shows who she really is,” Wild said. “She melts under gentle pets and absolutely adores other cats.”

Luisa enjoys birdwatching, quiet play, and moments of silliness when she thinks no one is watching. She would thrive with a calm feline companion and an adopter who understands that trust takes time — but once earned, her affection runs deep.

Luisa is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, FELV/FIV negative, and litter box trained.

“She’s been waiting her whole young life for a place to belong,” Wild said. “Once she realizes she’s safe… she becomes nothing short of 'purrfection'.”
