All-American Status For Northport HS Field Hockey Star

NORTHPORT, NY — Natalie McKenna, a junior at Northport High School, has been selected as the school’s first field hockey All-American player, according to a news release from the school district.

Natalie, who plays goalie on the state championship-winning team, was selected for Third Team All-American and is one of only four students from New York to be chosen.

"Natalie is the complete student-athlete," Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Mark Dantuono said via news release. "She places the needs of her teammates as her number one priority."

Coach Gina Walling has been leading the team to an incredible track record, having won the Long Island championship the previous year and state championship during the most recent season.

"I could not be prouder of the athlete Natalie has become," Walling said. "Her dedication and work ethic have brought her to amazing places and will only continue to do so. The sky is the
limit for her!"

Both Natalie and her twin sister, Olivia McKenna, have committed to the University of Connecticut to play field hockey. The twins will play on the Northport High School field hockey team again next year, with hopes of repeating the successful season.
