Arrest Log: Peeing In Public, Littering, Assault, DWI
Here are recent incidents reported in the Northport Police Department log.

Tuesday, Aug. 29
At 1:04 p.m., John Montgomery, 38, of Northport, was arrested on Woodbine Avenue and charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police say they were waved down by someone who said he was assaulted by Montgomery. The person advised police Montgomery was assaulting someone in a residence, police say. He was placed under arrest.

At 5:15 p.m., a 22-year-old Northport woman was issued a field appearance ticket in lieu of arrest for littering in a public place.

At 1:01 p.m., Thomas Helbig, 50, of Kings Park, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing a prescreen test after he was pulled over for speeding and making an unsafe lane change on Fort Salonga Road.

Wednesday, Sept. 6
At 3:53 p.m., A 57-year-old East Northport man was issued a field appearance ticket for disorderly conduct after he was observed urinating in public on Fort Salonga Road.
Thursday, Sept. 7
At 8:48 p.m., a 63-year-old Hicksville man was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation and circumvention of an interlock device after he was pulled over for using a cellphone while driving on Fort Salonga Road.
Friday, Sept. 8
At 10:39 a.m., a 53-year-old Syosset man was arrested for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after he was pulled over on Highland Avenue for failing to signal a turn. He was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.
