Boy Scouts Visit Seniors at Atria in East Northport

The troop and seniors collaborate to paint decorative birdhouses together.

Members of Troop 5 of the Boy Scouts of America recently visited residents of the Atria, a senior living facility in East Northport.

The boys brought a project with them – wooden birdhouses, along with paints and supplies – and each boy teamed up with a senior citizen to paint a decorative birdhouse.

The annual Atria visit is one of many service events in which Troop 5 participates.

“It’s always a great experience for the boys, who have nice conversations with the residents while they work on the birdhouses together,” said Kristen Cacic, service project coordinator for the troop.

Troop 5 meets on Wednesday evenings at Trinity Regional School in East Northport. For more information about the troop, visit www.troop5enpt.org.
