Car Break-In Thief Arrested In Northport
The man was arrested on Sunday morning, police say.

A 27-year-old Northport man was arrested for breaking into multiple vehicles in Northport on Sunday morning, police say.
According to authorities, the man was seen looking into vehicles on Laurel Avenue at 12:29 a.m. Police say he attempted to enter a 2011 white Toyota through the driver’s side door and then entered a 2001 black BMW. An officer saw the man rummaging through the center console of the vehicle before placing something in his right sweatshirt pocket and walking away, police say.
The officer stopped the man, which caused a quantity of cash to fall out of his pocket.

The owner of the vehicle told police he had $240 in his center console, which was the same amount that fell out of the thief’s pocket.
The man was arrested and charged with petty larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal tampering. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and held pending bail.
