Have leftover Halloween candy? Bring it down to Huntington Bay Dental (222 East Main St., Huntington) Monday and Tuesday to send the extra goodies to U.S. troops overseas. The donations are part of the “Cpl. Christopher G. Scherer, Leave No Marine Behind Project.” Scherer, who was born and raised in East Northport, was a corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He was killed July 21, 2007 while serving in Iraq. His family created the Cpl Christopher G. Scherer Semper Fi Fund with a mission "to make one minute of one day just a little bit better for Marines stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan." Children who participate whill get paid for their good deed as well. Children will get $1 back for every pound of unopened candy donated.

Schools in the Northport-East Northport School District will be closed Tuesday, Election Day, for a Superintendent's Conference.

There will be a Board of Education meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at the W.J. Brosnan School (158 Laurel Ave., Northport). A Northport Village Board of Trustees meeting will take place Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Village Hall (224 Main St., Northport)
