Cops Nab Man Who Jumped Fence To Evade Arrest In Northport: PD

He was located a week later at a gym, his place of employment, police say.

A man who jumped a fence to avoid being arrested last week in Northport was located and placed under arrest on Tuesday, authorities say.

According to Northport Police, an officer pulled over 25-year-old Amityville resident Jeffrey Edwards after seeing him violate numerous vehicle and traffic laws on Fort Salonga Road and Reservoir Avenue on Tuesday, July 3 at 2:04 a.m. Following a traffic stop on Vernon Valley Road, police say they determined Edwards’ license was suspended 18 times and he had an active arrest warrant in Nassau County.

When officers asked Edwards to place his hands behind his back, police say he ran south on Vernon Valley Road, cut through Dairy Barn and the McDonald's parking lot, and jumped a fence onto Kathy Court.
