Cow Harbor Fine Gifts In Northport To Close; Liquidation Sale On

NORTHPORT, NY — Cow Harbor Fine Gifts and Collectibles, a gift shop in Northport, is closing its doors after nearly 40 years in Northport Village.

Bob and Ruth Koroghlian have owned the shop since 1982. The store offers gifts, collectibles, and home decor at 101 Main St., Northport. A storewide liquidation sale began in November and is set to last until every item is gone, according to Kevin Wilson, a retail consultant retained by the Koroghlians.

The husband and wife duo behind the store is set to retire.

"We are finding this a little bittersweet, but we decided the time is right," the Koroghlians told Patch. "We've done all we wanted to do and now it's time to move on and explore other opportunities in life and spend more time with family and friends."

Display fixtures, operating equipment, German nutcrackers, Venetian glassware, Murano jewelry, French linens, cutting boards, lamps, Department 56 villages and more are items that are for sale.

"We understand this is a loss to Main Street, but would like everyone to be happy for us," the couple said. "After nearly 40 years of serving the Northport region, and over 60 years in business, we considered many factors before making this decision. This sale gives us a way to thank our customers for their business and friendship over the years while also accomplishing our personal goals."

Prizes will be awarded to people who register at the store, and no purchase is necessary.

Store hours for this event are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11
a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Due to the nature of this sale, all sales are final; no rain checks or
layaways will be allowed.

The sale is expected to run through Christmas, and the store's lease is set to end on Jan. 15.

The Koroghlians have been so busy with the sale that they have not really planned their next venture in life.

"We'll continue to travel, and beyond that, we have nothing specific in mind," they said. "It will be a very strange feeling for a while not getting up in the morning to go open the store."
