Critics of Common Core, Testing to Hold Forum

Critics of the Common Core, testing, and its impact on education are holding a forum at Christ Lutheran Church in East Northport on Tuesday, at 7 p.m.

Speakers include Jeanette Deutermann, founder and administrator of Long Island Opt-Out, Dr. Joseph Rella, superintendent of Comsewague School District, Beth Dimino, president of the Port Jefferson Teachers Association, and Marla Kilfoyle, a parent advocate.

Among the event’s hosts are Kings Park Advocates for Education, Smithtown Parents Advocacy Group, Half Hollow Hills Against Common Core, Uniting Commack for the Love of Learning, Hauppauge Parents Advocacy Group, Elwood Opt-Out.
