Sod-Covered Car Leads To Meth Arrest: Police
Northport Police say this is the second case involving crystal methamphetamine in Northport Village.

Two individuals were arrested for drug possession after police say they were caught by police using drugs in Northport just 16 hours apart this weekend.
One possessed crystal meth and another was caught “cutting” cocaine, police say.
Police responded to the CVS parking lot, located at 721 Fort Salonga Road, for the report of a man in a blue Ford Explorer using narcotics at 4:22 p.m. on Saturday. Officers found the vehicle, which was covered with rolls of grass sod, and recovered a glass pipe with residue in it, a quantity of crystal methamphetamine and a hypodermic needle, police say.

A Kevin Rooney, 50-year-old Bay Shore man was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. He was released on $250 bail and was due back in court on Monday.

Police warn that crystal meth is very addictive and toxic when used and the manufacturing process is extremely volatile and explosive.
Sixteen hours earlier, police responded to suspicious behavior in and around a vehicle in a municipal parking lot on Woodside Avenue on Friday at 11:23 p.m.
An officer watched the vehicle for about 10 minutes and when he approached the vehicle, he saw a woman in the car “cutting” cocaine on her phone with a credit card, police say.
She was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Another woman and a man also in the car were charged with first-degree loitering. They were processed and released on $100 bail and were due back and court on Monday. Their identities are being withheld due to an ongoing investigation.
