Pole hanging on power lines threatens roadway Monday, LIPA crews reopen to traffic at 6 p.m.

Woodbine Avenue was closed to traffic for about 10 hours Monday after a light pole snapped in half during , said.
The pole was suspended on power lines while an officer at the scene awaited Long Island Power Authority personnel to come shut off power locally so crews could remove the threat.
The damaged pole was located just south of 5th Ave., where police blocked the street off.

Merchants along Woodbine said the 8 a.m. storm packed intense winds. An officer at the scene speculated a falling tree limb might have cracked the pole.
