EAST NORTHPORT, NY — The Dog-Eared Bards Book Shop of East Northport could soon celebrate three years. Owners James and Jillian Wagner are asking for the community's help to reach the milestone, however.

The bookshop is due to renew its lease, the Wagners said. That means writing a big check, they said.

"We definitely want that to happen, and so we decided to put together a fundraiser to help us out with this goal," the owners wrote.

"We know so many of you love our book store, and the idea of indie bookstores in general and understand the importance of keeping places like this around, especially in the current age!" the Wagners wrote on the fundraiser.

The bookstore has hosted poetry readings, poetry workshops, tote-bag used book sales, summer reading programs, antiquarian and vintage book shows, book signings, author events, Bards Against Hunger fundraisers for charity, stage presence workships, children's book fairs, The Bards Poetry Scholarship, and more.

"We're asking for you to show support to help us renew the lease for another three years to keep this book store and community center open!!" the Wagners wrote.
