Bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
EATONS NECK, NY — Valley Grove Beach in Eatons Neck is closed to bathing because a high level of bacteria was found, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services announced Friday.
Bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat, said Dr. Gregson Pigott, Suffolk County commissioner of health.
The beach will reopen when further testing reveals that the bacteria have subsided to acceptable levels.
