Elwood HS Again Named One Of Top High Schools In U.S.: 'Collective Effort'

Schools are ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college.

Elwood-John H. Glenn High School was once again named one of the top high schools in the nation, as noted in the recently released 2024-2025 U.S. News & World Report annual “Best High Schools” list.

ELWOOD, NY — Elwood-John H. Glenn High School was once again named one of the top high schools in the nation, as noted in the recently released 2024-2025 U.S. News & World Report annual "Best High Schools" list, the school district announced.

With an overall score of 93.7/100, John Glenn ranked at No. 1,112 nationally, 109th in New York State and in the top five in Suffolk County. Schools are ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college.

"I am happy to report that Elwood-John H. Glenn High School continues to rank among the top high schools both at the national and state levels," Principal Corey McNamara said in a news release. "This recognition is a collective effort of the entire Elwood community and organization. We commend our students, families, faculty and staff for their continuous effort in making Elwood such a great community to live."
